On Newsfeed Now for Feb. 27, we started with a story many people are talking about after the United Methodist Church voted Tuesday to reaffirm its stance against same-sex marriage and gay clergy. We welcomed in WATN’s Rebecca Butcher, along with Tim Whitley, an Arkansas man who’s been outspoken against the church’s decision.

At 7:00 into the show we turned to the day’s big story from Washington, where the former personal attorney for President Donald Trump was testifying before a congressional committee. Michael Cohen told the panel Wednesday morning that Trump knew ahead of time that WikiLeaks had emails damaging to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. He also called Trump a “racist,” a “conman” and a “cheat,” during his testimony.

A story from Arkansas was our next topic at 13:40. KARK’s Jessi Turnure dropped in with details on a new bill in the state legislature that seeks to allow terminally ill patients in Arkansas to be able to die with dignity. The proposed measure would create an exception to the state’s ban on physician-assisted suicide by allowing doctors to prescribe these patients with lethal doses of medicine to end their lives if they prove to be clear of mind.

And we reeled in a big one with our final story from the Florida shore at 18:30 into the show. That’s where, much to the surprise of two fisherman, they caught a great white shark on Tuesday afternoon at Navarre Beach, just east of Pensacola. The monster of a fish weighed in at an estimated 700 pounds and was 10 feet long! They tagged it and then set it free.
