Off Duty Police Sergeant Cited For Having Gun In His Backpack At Memphis Airport

News

A Memphis Police Sergeant was given a misdemeanor citation after a handgun was found in his backpack during the screening process at Memphis International Airport back in November.

Sergeant Timothy Reynolds told TSA he had put the gun in his backpack but forgot to remove it before coming to the airport.

Reynolds was routinely relieved of duty pending the investigation. Charges against Reynolds were dropped, and he has since returned to full duty.

Reynolds has been with MPD since 1998.
