MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – UPDATE 7/19/2019 – The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office now says six corrections deputies resigned before investigations into inappropriate conduct were concluded.
The SCSO said in a video on Twitter that one of the corrections deputies, “charged with compliance and regulations, personal conduct, and consorting with persons of bad or criminal reputation, resigned before an employment decision was made.”
The SCSO says the investigation focused on inappropriate relationships with inmates. Investigators say they did not find sufficient basis for criminal charges.
The video went on to say cases remain open in SCSO files, and if any of those individuals ever seek employment with the department again, the charges will proceed.
