Two teens charged with trying to kidnap woman in east Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Memphis Police say two teens have been arrested and charged, accused trying to kidnap a woman Monday in East Memphis.

Police say it happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Leonora. They say the two teens, one armed with a handgun, demanded the woman get inside the stolen car they were in. Police say after a brief struggle, the woman was able to break free and run away. She was not injured.

Police say they arrested a 15-year-old boy later that same day. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, juvenile in possession of a handgun, and theft of property under $1,000.

Tuesday, police say they arrested a 16-year-old accomplice. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and theft of property $10,000 (auto theft).

The suspects’ names and mugshots have not been released.
