WEB EXTRA: “Stuff the Bus” with Local 24 Cares and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis

News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Kids head back to school next Monday and Local 24 Cares along with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis are again partnering to provide school supplies for thousands of area students.

At any of the Mid-South area Sam’s Club locations as well as Milano Men’s Wear, the Pink Palace, and Academy Sports & Outdoors in Germantown, anyone can drop off school supplies to be donated in the Stuff the Bus boxes located near the front entrance.

Supplies needed include:

  • Composition notebooks
  • Kleenex
  • Pencil bags
  • #2 pencils
  • Highlighters
  • Scissors
  • Wide-ruled notebook filler paper
  • 3 x 5 index cards

Boys & Girls Club VP of Development & External Affairs William Winstead says it’s a challenge for many parents to provide school supplies for their children each year.

“We want to take the burden off of a parent so that when they provide for their students and they’re having to make a decision between providing food or getting school supplies, parents are going to have to make that decision and we want to take that burden off of them.” says Winstead.

You can drop off your donated supplies at any area Sam’s Club or the Academy Sports location at Giacosa Place off of Germantown Pkwy., between Monday, August 5, 2019 and Friday, August 9, 2019.
