GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The annual Germantown Charity Horse Show kicked off Tuesday, celebrating its 71st year in existence.
As one of the largest all-breed horse shows in the United States, riders will compete in events including Hunters, Jumpers, Racking Horses, Gypsy Vanners, Paso Finos, and others.
For those not into the horse scene, not to worry, as there are plenty of other festivities on hand including numerous vendors providing shopping and a wide range of treats from Commissary Barbecue to Mempops.
Festival vendor McKrell Baier says the annual event is about more than just the competition.
“It’s the family atmosphere. It’s a really old-time fair kind of environment. You can still get your cotton candy and a funnel cake. It’s a place where the whole family can go and enjoy and more than anything, I think it’s about being in nature,” says Baier.
