MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – There’s a lot of anticipation across Grizz Nation ahead of the 2019 NBA Draft. Late Thursday afternoon, fans lined up outside FedExForum before the official Memphis Grizzlies draft watch party.
It’s a hugely important night for the future of the franchise.
The team will have the no. 2 selection in the draft, the Grizzlies highest pick in a decade.
Fans said they’re ready to cheer on the start the unofficial start of a new era, now that the ‘Grit and Grind’ era officially ended Wednesday with the trading of point guard Mike Conley.
Now, Grizz Nation is buzzing about adding another potential franchise player to go alongside budding star Jaren Jackson Jr.
“This is a huge day for Grizzlies you know, we’ve got the second pick, so we are just super excited, and we just want to see it and be a part of it,” Zach Jackson said.
“They are going to be the face of the franchise now, and we haven’t had a whole lot of youth in the past. Everything has been super, all of the veteran players, they are all gone, we lost our Core Four, we’ve got to have new players to step up for sure,” Colby Wood said.
