MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The Memphis Grizzlies are making a difference off the court.
Monday the team tipped of service projects in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Players, coaches, and staff unloaded and sorted food for families at the fedexfamilyhouse. they played video games, did arts and crafts, and even held a cookie bake-off with kids who are being treated at le bonheur children’s hospital.
players said being able to put a smile on the kids faces was a great way to kick off mlk day celebrations.
“Just to come out here and see the kids and just you know take off a jersey sometimes and put on regular clothes and talk to them and show our personalities. It definitely means a lot not just to use but to everyone else here.” said Grizzlies point guard De’Anthony Melton.
The Grizzlies host the team’s 18th annual MLK game a week from today at FedExForum. The halftime celebration will feature Grammy award winner Leslie Odom, Jr.
