MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Memphis Tigers fans packed the stands of FedExForum Thursday night for an exhibition basketball game against Christian Brothers University.

The turnout was more than 15,000, and Tiger fans are more excited than ever for this season. Coach Penny Hardaway will be leading the best recruiting class of 2019-2020 and is ranked 14th in the nation.

Jacob Crocker is a diehard Tigers fan and tries to never miss a game on the court. He is anticipating all that the team will do this season.

“Everyone wants to see what’s been talked about,” Crocker said. Penny’s been talking a little bit, so everybody’s waiting to see.”

Crocker said this year’s team, along with Coach Hardaway, is what is bringing the fans back.

“Penny came back, and he is the chosen one around here, he is the golden child around here, everybody loves him and wanted Penny to come back,” Crocker said. “He’s here, we’re ready, and we’re excited.”

Even though Thursday’s game will not affect the teams standings, Tiger fan Kimberly Sanders said she can’t wait to see what the team brings this season.

“We’re just so excited about the team this year and Coach Hardaway and what the guys are going to bring this year,” Sanders said. “So, we want to be a part of everything from the beginning to the end.”
