A man was injured after a tree fell onto a home in South Memphis Thursday morning.
Memphis Fire Department made the scene in the 1400 block of Ethyln Avenue shortly after a call was placed to 911.
The man who was hurt was identified as Derick Peepples. According to his girlfriend, Adrienne Rimmer, he was hurt by falling debris. She told Local 24 News one side of his face is swollen and he has scratches on his arm.
Rimmer told Local 24 News her daughter and two grandchildren were also in the home when the tree fell.
“The wind started blowing real strong,” said Rimmer. “We were in the bedroom talking. The fence started just moving, moving real hard. After that we just heard a big boom and I mean, it just started coming in on us. We were kind of barricaded in there.”
FEELING BLESSED: Adrienne spoke with @LocalMemphis after a tree fell on her house in South Memphis. She was inside along with her family. Despite the size of the tree she is grateful no one was seriously hurt. Her boyfriend was taken to ROH to be checked out.
