MEMPHIS, Tenn — Who: Mid-South Area Blood Bank – Mississippi Blood Services
Why: The Mid-South area hospitals serve as a medical hub for the region, which requires them to demand our local blood bank(s) maintain an adequate blood supply. Such a demand places a tremendous level of responsibility on both the volunteer blood bank(s) and the area residents who serve as the potential blood donor pool. Blood banks experience an extreme decline in blood donations during the holiday season; therefore, this campaign will help bring attention to the lifesaving mission of blood banks, and their ultimate help towards saving the lives of our local area residents who need lifesaving blood transfusions.
What: Give Blood Share Joy will be a one-day festive holiday themed community blood drive, with a pre-determined blood donation goal of 100 units.
When: This event will take place on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023. Time: 10am – 7pm
How: The event will be structured to maximize impact and outcomes by:
- Using our platform to fully educate (about need, use and process) the public prior to the blood drive
- Being the presenting sponsor of the single day ABC24 Give Blood Share Joy Community Blood Drive • Motivating our audience to commit to donate by signing up prior event day
- Making the event a fun, festive and socially engaging holiday season experience to include musical entertainment and refreshments.
- Drive promotion and donor recruitment will consist of special event t-shirt giveaway, $100 donation made to Hope Lodge for every blood donation received up to 100 donations.
Note: This event, in 2023, will focus on blood donations and the impact it has on Cancer patients. Previous years have focused on Organ Transplant and Sickle Cell patients.
