MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Rachel Phillips is a member of the ABC24 sports team, joining the team in March, 2024.

Rachel comes to Memphis after spending three years at KVIA in El Paso, Texas. She began her time there as the weekend morning anchor/producer and a reporter who also covered sports. In June of 2022, Rachel transitioned to the weekend sports anchor/reporter role and never looked back.

During her time in El Paso, Rachel was also the sideline reporter and in-game host for El Paso Locomotive FC, Memphis 901 FC's counterpart in the USL. She was the national radio sideline reporter for the 2021, 2022 and 2023 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and was an analyst for UTEP women’s basketball on ESPN+ during the 2022-23 season.

KVIA was Rachel’s first job in the industry after obtaining her Master’s in Sports Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University.

Rachel grew up in Brisbane, Australia, where she says sports are not a choice but a way of life. Her favorite sports team is the Melbourne Storm but she’s ready for the Grizzlies and Tigers to give the Storm a run for their money.

Rachel is very excited to bring her passion for sports to Memphis and is ready to immerse herself in the community.
