MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Yvonne Cooper is a morning news anchor for ABC24 News. She’s not new to Tennessee. Yvonne was born and raised down the road in Nashville.

Her career started in Macon, GA. For two years, she reported “new, now, next” stories of the day as a morning reporter and fill-in anchor for our sister station 13WMAZ.

“My goal every day is to inform and, hopefully, to inspire,” Yvonne said. “That’s what great journalism is all about.”

Next, Yvonne joined the 10News team as a Multi-Skilled Journalist in June 2018. During her time in Knoxville, Yvonne spear-headed several series including a six-part docuseries called, “The Secret in Scarboro.” That project gives in in-depth look at the untold story of the Oak Ridge 85, the first group of students to integrate a public school system in Tennessee. Since her reporting, a local school was renamed to honor the group. Also, the docuseries is now part of the district-wide school curriculum in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Yvonne is a graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. Yvonne is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

“I’m happy to call Memphis my home,” she said. “It’s an honor to serve this community.”
