Meet the first newborns of the New Year in the Mid-South!

Proud parents across the Greater Memphis area celebrated the arrival of 2024 with their own special deliveries.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Hospitals across the Mid-South are welcoming their first newborn babies of the year.

First, meet Carla Andrea Perez Lopez, born at 1:36 a.m. Jan. 1, 2024, at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis. She’s the first child for parents Lesvia and Oscar, and she measured in at 19 inches and five pounds, 12 ounces.

Blake Cole made her first appearance into the world at 1:57 a.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women. Weighing in at five pounds and 15 ounces, and 19 inches long, Blake is the second child for proud parents Brady and Sunni Cole, and big sister Channing is ready to help her tackle the world.

Marlie Brooks made her debut at 6:54 a.m. at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital, weighing in at six pounds and eight ounces. The third child for parents Brittany and Matt Brooks of Byhalia, Mississippi, she joins big sister Sadie Grace, 6, and brother Lake, 18-months.
