MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Corky’s BBQ is expanding and adding jobs to its manufacturing operations in Memphis.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter joined the Memphis company Wednesday to announce the expansion at the 3006 Fleetbrook Dr. facility.

They said the company will invest $4 million to add additional space and a second shift of 28 workers. They plan to expand the freezer, add smokers, and bring in new automation and processing and packing rooms.

Corky’s Food Manufacturing, LLC makes and distributes the retail food products related to the Corky’s BBQ restaurants.

“This news is literally smokin’! The entire city of Memphis is excited to see a homegrown success story like Corky’s expanding its operations and creating jobs,” said Sen. Raumesh Akbari (D-Memphis) in a news release.

“I thank this Memphis-based brand for sharing our commitment to Tennessee values and creating new jobs in Shelby County,” said Gov. Lee.

“This expansion not only highlights Corky’s commitment to Tennessee but also reaffirms Tennessee's position as a premier destination for thriving businesses,” said McWhorter.

“We are excited for growth and the incredible opportunities to expand our line of barbecue items across the nation!” said Jimmy Stovall, owner and CEO, Corky’s BBQ. “The demand for our authentic Corky’s hickory-smoked barbecue has us fired up to increase our manufacturing operations and meet the ever-growing appetite for our assortment of barbecue. With each new step, we are proud of our Memphis roots and strengthening our ties to the community.”
