Memphis Fire Department announces new requirements for food truck operations

MFD says food trucks must pay for a permit and undergo mandatory inspections.

MEMPHIS, Tenn — On Tuesday, the Memphis Fire Department announced new requirements for food truck vendors beginning this November.

In a Facebook post, MFD said their "ongoing commitment to ensuring fire safety and compliance" led to the new requirements. 

Beginning on Nov. 1, 2023, all food trucks must obtain an annual $50 permit and undergo a mandatory inspection, according to MFD.

They will honor existing inspection certifications from neighboring municipalities and the state of Tennessee.

Memphis Fire encourages anyone wishing to schedule an inspection or seek clarification on this requirement to contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at 901-636-5401.
