MEMPHIS, Tennessee —
Crews broke ground Thursday on a new youth and family support center in south Memphis.
Jerod House is named in honor of Jerod Lewis who was shot and killed in 2012. His parents started the nonprofit Jerod House as a way to help reduce violence and take back the community.
The center will focus on helping kids, such as mentorship programs and providing family support systems.
