MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A Memphis man and another teen are accused in a rash of autoburglaries this week in northeast Memphis.
18-year-old Hussein Mberwa and the other teen are chargedwith burglary and theft of property.
Police say Monday, several victims called to report theircars had been broken into overnight. A woman in the 5400 block of Rappahannocksaid someone had rummaged through her car. Another man reported a Ruger handgunwas stolen from his SUV in the 5300 block of Adney Gap Cv. Police say videosurveillance captured the suspect in both cases.
Police say they identified the suspects, and Mberwa admittedto breaking into 36 vehicles early Monday morning. Police say Mberwa and theteen identified each other in the surveillance video.
Mberwa’s bond is set at $10,000. Information on the other teen’s status is not available.
