Man indicted in deadly double shooting in Parkway Village

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Shelby County Grand Jury indicted a man charged in a deadly shooting in Parkway Village in January, according to court records. 

Tony Gaddy was indicted April 9, 2024, on charges of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and employing firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony in the Jan. 11, 2024, shooting. A charge of possession of marijuana with intent to sell was added after his arrest on Jan. 29. He is out of jail on $55,000 bond total.

Around 2 p.m. Jan. 11, MPD officers responded to a shooting in the 3900 block of Cochese Ave. According to the police affidavit, one man, later identified as Lashun Falkner, was found shot in the back of the head. He was taken to Regional One Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The affidavit said a second man was found across the street, shot in the hand, He was taken to Regional One Hospital and has since been released.

Investigators said in the affidavit that the second victim and two other men had gone to Cochese Ave. about his car being towed from the yard across the street. Police said Gaddy and the victim argued about the car, and as the three men walked away, Gaddy started shooting at them, according to the affidavit. Investigators said that one man was hit and the two others ran away.

The affidavit said Gaddy waived his Miranda rights and gave a statement. He told police the three men had come to his home accusing him of stealing the car, and that the man who was struck in the hand threatened to kill him and stood as if he was armed. Gaddy told police, according to the affidavit, that when it appeared the man was going to shoot him, he started shooting himself, about eight times.

The affidavit said Gaddy went inside to get another gun, and that's when his cousin, Faulkner, told him he had been shot, Gaddy told police he hadn't seen Faulkner because he was focused on the other man. 

According to the affidavit, video showed both Faulkner and the other man who was shot standing next to each other when the shooting began, both turned away from Gaddy. The affidavit said the other men did not appear to be armed.

Police said during a search, a gun was found in Gaddy's closet, according to the affidavit.
