MPD: Four boys ages 11 to 14 arrested, then re-arrested days later, in a series of car thefts and more

MPD said the unidentified boys were arrested once, then re-arrested days later after they had been released.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said four boys, ages 11 to 14, have been arrested and charged in a series of crimes. MPD said the unidentified boys were arrested once, then re-arrested days later after they had been released.

According to Memphis Police, Enterprise Rental Company reported a 2018 Kia Soul stolen about noon on April 7, 2024. Investigators said video footage from inside the car showed four young suspects, ages 11, 12, 13, and 14 – all too young to get a driver’s license.

MPD said the four boys were arrested on May 15 and charged with the theft of that Kia and another Kia Soul.

According to Memphis Police, the same four juveniles were then seen on video surveillance days later on May 18, breaking into the Cloud 9 Vape Shop on Sycamore View Rd. Investigators said they used a large rock and damaged the storefront.

Investigators said the four boys were identified from their previous arrest and picked up and booked again. This time, MPD said the four were connected to five more vehicle thefts.

MPD said the 11-year-old and 13-year-old boys are charged with attempted burglary, motor vehicle theft, and vandalism. The 13-year-old also had a juvenile warrant.

The 12-year-old and 14-year-old were charged with attempted burglary and motor vehicle theft.
