Memphis Police release video of suspects after security officer shot during attempted armed bank robbery in Frayser

Memphis Police officers responded to an attempted armed robbery at the bank in the 3300 block of North Watkins St. on Oct. 25, 2023.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have released video of the two armed robbers who tried to rob a First Horizon Bank in Frayser Wednesday. 

At around 1:08 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, Memphis Police officers responded to an attempted armed robbery at the bank in the 3300 block of North Watkins St. Bank employees told police the two suspects were dressed in all black, wearing ski masks and armed with guns.

Investigators said the security guard on duty fired shots at the suspects before they were able to enter the bank. The suspects returned fire before taking off in a dark-colored four-door sedan. The vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound down Frayser Boulevard. 

MPD initially said a security officer was only being treated for cuts, but later confirmed he had been shot and did not realize it. He was taken to Methodist North in non-critical condition. MPD said another bank employee was also injured, though they did not say how.

Attempted Business Robbery First Horizon Bank 3391 North Watkins Street Report #2310030638ME MEMPHIS, TN – On October 26, 2023, at approximately 1:15 p.m., officers responded to an attempted robbery at 3391 North Watkins Street at First Horizon Bank. Officers were advised that two unknown Black male suspects attempted to rob the bank armed with an assault rifle and a handgun. The security guard on duty fired shots at the suspects before they were able to enter the bank. The suspects returned fire before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored four-door sedan. The vehicle was last seen traveling eastbound down Frayser Boulevard. The security guard and another bank employee were injured during the exchange of gunfire. The security guard was transported non-critical for medical treatment. Suspect #1 was a Black male, 5’9”-5’10”, 25-30 years old, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, white shoes, red gloves, and a black mask. He was armed with a rifle. Suspect #2 was a Black male, 5’9”-5’10”, 25-30 years old, wearing a black hoodie, dark jeans, black and white shoes, gloves, and a black mask. He was armed with a handgun. No arrests have been made.
