Grahamwood Elementary students record original song “No School Today”

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Students at Grahamwood Elementary are now recording artists.

They traveled to the legendary Royal Studios Thursday to recordtheir own original song “No School Today”.

Not only did the students get to record the song at Royal Studios,they also got to work with “Uptown Funk” engineer and studio owner BooMitchell.

The trip was thanks to a partnership with the Mike Curb Institute forMusic at Rhodes College.

“The idea was to do a field trip with kids sothey could learn not only about Memphis music history but how young people atthe forefront. Empower them to learn more about the amazing place they’re fromand inspire them to do the next great thing,” said John Bass, Director, MikeCurb Institute for Music at Rhodes College.

The recording will be mastered and released thisspring as part of a celebration of the arts at Grahamwood Elementary.
