MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) Bloomfield Baptist Church Pastor Ralph White died Saturday.

White, the Founder of the GOD SO LOVED Prayer and Outreach Ministry, was involved in a number of community organizations and civic groups including Citizens for Community Values of Memphis, Convoy of Hope, Baptist Ministerial Association, Religious Alliance Against Pornography (RAAP), Shelby County Domestic Violence Task Force, and Promise Keepers International.

Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland in a tweet Saturday afternoon said, Sadden to learn of the passing of Pastor Ralph White, a good man who leaves a strong legacy for Memphis. I’ve known him for 25 years and always enjoyed visiting with, and getting advice from, him. My condolences to his family and everyone at Bloomfield Full Gospel Baptist Church.

Pastor White attended the University of Arkansas and Mid-South Bible College. A Memphian, Pastor White also received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Detroit Bible College.

White was the founder of the annual Martin Luther King Park Fishing Rodeo, an event free to children of all ages.

White is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janet, three children and seven grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
