Covington Police investigating early morning crash that involved a pedestrian on Saturday

The driver did remain on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to CPD.

COVINGTON, Tenn. — Covington Police said they are investigating a crash that involved a pedestrian, they said on Saturday.

Officers said they responded shortly before 6 a.m. on Feb. 10 to the 500 block of West Liberty. The 20-year-old driver was in a 2015 Ford Explorer and traveling east on West Liberty before they struck a pedestrian trying to cross the intersection of West Liberty and Hill Avenue, according to the Covington Police Department (CPD).

This pedestrian was transported to Regional One in critical condition but was upgraded to stable condition, according to CPD.

The driver did remain on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to CPD. The Tennessee Highway Patrol helped with the investigation, according to CPD. 

Weather conditions played a role in the crash and the victim was wearing all black clothing at the time, according to CPD. 

The investigation is ongoing and, as of press time, there are no charges for the driver, according to CPD.
