Expungement resource fair held by Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church

Potential attendees are asked to confirm their eligibility on the Shelby County Criminal Court Clerk’s office website.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Those with past criminal convictions will had an opportunity to learn more about employment opportunities and the restoration of voting rights at the Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church on Saturday, March 2.

The fair was at the church's Midtown campus from 9 a.m. to noon. It was the first time the church returned to hosting these events since the pandemic.

“We want anyone interested in solving problems related to previous convictions to know The BLVD is a church home and family they can trust,” said The BLVD’s First Lady Bridgett Turner, Esq., who originated and organized the event. “This is one-stop shopping for expungement, with a range of comprehensive services in one place to make it as easy as possible for people to successfully reenter society and become productive participants in the life of their communities.”

Before the event, potential attendees were asked to confirm their eligibility on the Shelby County Criminal Court Clerk’s office website here.

Additional participants included the American Job Center, Memphis Area Transit Authority, FedEx, Kroger and Maximus. The NAACP was also reportedly onsite to help people restore their voting rights ahead of the upcoming election year.
