KACIE WOODY AND SUSPECT REPORTEDLY MET ON THE INTERNET

Police are investigating the deaths of a 13 year-old girl and a man whose bodies were found in a Conway storage unit containing a van belonging to a man thought to have abducted the girl. Authorities today confirmed Kacie and her abductor met on the Internet.

Police are investigating the deaths of a 13 year-old girl and a man whose bodies were found in a Conway storage unit containing a van belonging to a man thought to have abducted the girl. Conway police Lieutenant Chip Stokes says two people were dead at the scene of the standoff. Stokes said one of them was the missing girl, Kacie Rene Woody. Authorities declined to provide information on how the two died, but called the girl's death a homicide. Faulkner County Sheriff Marty Montgomery said the identity of the man could be released today. A search had been under way most of the day yesterday for Kacie, who disappeared the night before from her home in the rural community of Holland, northeast of Conway. Police said they feared she had been abducted by a 47-year-old man. Sheriff's spokesman Jack Pike says it was clear from the start that the girl had not simply run off. State Police spokesman Donnie Belew says a van believed to be driven by the man was found yesterday evening at West Conway Mini-Storage. After a shot was fired as police approached the van, parked inside a storage unit, authorities converged on the scene, including hostage negotiators.
