MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphuis.com)- Several candidates for Memphis City Council District 6 and 7 got aplatform to spread their ideas Saturday.
9 of the 15 candidates were welcomed to NewSalem M.B. Church in Orange Mound for a town hall.
The public received the opportunity to askeach city council hopeful tough questions about the current state of the cityand what they can do to make it better. Organizers say Saturday’s townhall presented a unique opportunity to get a lot of information aboutcandidates in a short period of time.
“Really most people don’t have anopportunity to meet candidates there are so many people in each city councildistrict that’s really hard for voters to learn and meet every single personwho is running in either one of those districts so we felt this would be a goodopportunity for voters to come and see,” said Sarah Beth Larson, Vice Chair ofShelby County Democratic Party.
The event was sponsored by the Shelby CountyDemocratic Party.
