Our thoughts and our prayers go out to his family.

The Shelby County Election Commission released the following statement:

“The death of O.C. Pleasant, Jr. is one that is felt acutely by all the current and past members of the Shelby County Election Commission,” said Robert Meyers, chairman of the Election Commission.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of O.C. Pleasant, Jr. O.C. was a dedicated member of the Election Commission who served with honor and integrity.”

“O.C. Pleasant worked as a commissioner longer than any other in the history of the Shelby County Election Commission,” Meyers said.

“O.C. was a commissioner from 1979 until 2009 and Chairman for most of those years. I became a commissioner in 2008 and had the pleasure of working with him during his final year as Chairman. His longstanding service to the voters of Shelby County is a shining beacon of civic duty,” Meyers said.
