The best places to live in the United States include Mid-South cities

Some of the best places to live in the United States include cities in the Mid-South.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Some of the best places to live in the United States include cities in the Mid-South.

In an effort to rank the best places to live, U.S. News and World Report analyzed the 125 most populous metro areas. To make the list, the publication said, “a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.”

The list includes several cities from Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. They include:

Tennessee:
15) Nashville
46) Knoxville
55) Chattanooga
118) Memphis

Arkansas
4) Fayetteville
88) Little Rock

Mississippi
111) Jackson

Here’s what the listing said about Memphis:

Set in the Mississippi Delta, Memphis is a metro area where the energy of urban living melds with the slow rhythms of the rural South. Marked by historic districts, Mississippi River views and memorials to cultural legends like Elvis Presley and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., every corner of Memphis permeates with the culture of the Deep South.

Although it’s one of the largest metro areas in the Southeastern U.S., the region’s small-town atmosphere fosters a close-knit community that makes it an attractive place for families to settle. Its rich music scene is a magnet to artists looking to give their career momentum, and as a center of global transit and a crossroads of distribution, the area offers a wealth of job opportunities. However, slow economic growth in Memphis has caused a slump in the job market, increasing the number of both the unemployed and the homeless.

Nonprofits and faith-based organizations also shape the region. Residents take responsibility for the well-being of their neighborhoods, providing a stronger sense of community and a great way for newcomers to build social connections.
