WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (localmemphis.com)- Police in West Memphis, Arkansas have ruled the shooting of a 14-year-old boy as accidental.

The shooting happened at 8:30 p.m. Sunday night in the 800 block of Walnut Drive.

Detectives say a group of teens were playing with a gun, when a 16-year-old accidentally shot him.

No adults were home and the teens told police they found the gun.

Medics rushed the boy to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, where he was treated and released.

Family members told Local 24 News the teen is expected to make a full recovery.

West Memphis Police are reminding families on Twitter to lock their guns and keep weapons in a secure place.

Locks are free at department headquarters. Officials say you can stop by and pick one up.
