A relative and several neighbors say they were sweet, good people, and London made friends easily with the neighborhood kids.

Later Saturday a toy car and flowers were left on the family’s doorstep.

“Yesterday, he was over playing a video game with my son. He is a really rambunctious kid running around play. He’ll come to the door and look and peek in and wave. Nice kid, nice mom too, ” said neighbor Toya Graves.

Firefighters said the home did have a working smoke alarm. The house had a total of $24,000 in structure damages and $7,000 in content damages.

According to reports, the fire happened in the kitchen area, but they do not know the cause.
