MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A woman has died after a fire early Thursday morning in southeastMemphis.
It happened about 2:30 a.m. in an apartment in the 3400 block ofWild Rye Lane. It took almost an hour to bring the fire under control.
Investigators say the woman was found unresponsive in a bedroom.She was taken to St. Francis in critical condition with smoke inhalation, butlater died. Her name has not yet been released. The cause of death is pendingthe medical examiner’s report.
Investigators say the fire was caused by unattended food left onthe stove. About $20,000 in damage was caused.
