A high school student in Maine will have to submit a new yearbook photo, after the one he took while holding a shotgun was rejected.

Bonny Eagle High School senior Wade Gelinas said hunting is a family tradition. The school’s principal told reporters they do not allow weapons in yearbook photos at all, rather than choose between which promote violence and which don’t.

The photographer says she thought there was “no way” Gelinas would be allowed to use the photo.

Gelinas says he will submit a new photo, but hopes the school will change its policy.
