MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) — A home was evacuated early Friday morning when a car crashed into a home after a police chase.

About 4:00 a.m., Memphis police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle near Lamar and Bellevue. The car was found in the 1200 block of Lamar, where police say the driver drove toward officers who were approaching. They say an officer fired a shot, but no one was struck.

Officers said the suspect driving the car crashed into the side of a home near the intersection of Lamar and Bellevue in an attempt to get away.

The car hit the home’s gas meter which caused a leak. People inside the house were evacuated out of precaution.

After crashing the car, police said the suspect ran, but, they quickly caught him.

MPD said no one was hurt during the incident. Police say the suspect is a 17-year-old. His name has not been released.
