Mayor-elect Paul Young announces next round of appointments to administration

"We recognize the importance of the work we are tasked with and are building a solutions-oriented team capable of innovative thought and response," Young said.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mayor-elect Paul Young and his transition team announced in a press release Thursday morning that seven new members are joining his senior leadership team, including three new special assistants and one administrative team member.

"We were encouraged by the many high-quality candidates we had the opportunity to speak with during the interviewing and vetting process; both the internal and external candidate pools were exceptional," said Emily Greer — Co-chair of People and Appointments, Young Transition Team and CEO Greer Leadership Solutions — in the press release. "The defining attribute for many of the candidates was the desire to be a part of the change the new Young administration represents. We're excited by the team and know they will bring new ideas and energy to the job of running our city."

Here are the new appointments:

Chief Information Officer - Eric Keane

Chief of Policy and Programs - Haley Simmons

Chief of Staff - Mairi Albertson

Chief Communications Officer - Penelope Huston (previously announced)

Chief Legal Officer (City Attorney) - Tannera Gibson (previously announced)

Deputy Chief of Staff - Karen Gause

Special Assistant: Community Affairs Director - Dr. Reginald Boyce

Special Assistant: Government/Legislative Affairs - Lydia Holmes Sokoll

Special Assistant: Youth Services Director - Brian Harris

Executive Assistant - Renee Sekander

The transition team said multiple roles are still in the process of getting filled, which include the newly created position of Special Advisor to the Mayor on Public Safety.

"This team will be mission-focused on crime, community, and creating a stronger Memphis - our priorities will be defined by our city's needs."
