Memphis Football Secure 3 Key Transfers in the Spring Window

Memphis Football address multiple roster needs with 3 spring transfers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Following an extended period of anticipation, Memphis Football and head coach Ryan Silverfield, successfully secured three pivotal transfers during the Spring transfer window.

Running back Greg Desrosiers Jr., former Oklahoma defensive lineman Reggie Grimes II and offensive tackle Chris Adams are all taking their talents to the Bluff City.

The additions will help to add depth and competition within the squad after multiple integral members from last season's squad are no longer on the team.

RB | Greg Desrosiers Jr.

UMass transfer running back Greg Desrosiers Jr. was the first to commit to the Tigers duing the Spring window.

Last season he competed in 11 games for the Minutemen, totaling 301 yards on 37 rushes with four touchdowns and 185 yards on 15 receptions with two touchdowns.

The redshirt sophomore displays versatility in his role as a running back, showcasing adeptness in route running and confidence in receiving passes. Additionally, his potential extends to becoming a valuable asset in the Tigers' special teams unit.

Last season he was crowned College Football Network All-Independent Special Teams Kick Returner of the Year after racking up 599 yards on 29 kick returns.

While South Carolina transfer Mario Anderson is poised to command the majority of snaps at running back, Desrosiers Jr. is poised to carve out a niche as a versatile pass-catching option out of the backfield. Moreover, he's positioned as a frontrunner for the starting kick returner role.

DE | Reggie Grimes II

Defensive lineman Reggie Grimes II is a former four-star recruit out of Brentwood, Tennessee. He played four seasons at Oklahoma, totaling 43 tackles.

Memphis defensive coordinator Jordan Hankins will be looking to find a replacement for Jaylon Allen, who signed with the Denver Broncos last week. Grimes brings Big XII experience to the Memphis defensive line and will fight for the starting edge rusher position.

The 6-foot-four 278-pound defensive end is very quick, powerful and athletic. He only played four games in 2023 due to injury and will likely have two years of eligibly remaining.

His father Reggie Grimes played defensive tackle at the University of Alabama, and briefly played in the NFL for the New England Patriots (2000).

OT | Chris Adams

Memphis landed former Old Dominion offensive tackle Chris Adams days after he committed to Washington.

The 6-foot-6, 286-pound offensive lineman started all 13 games last season at ODU. He started the first four games at right tackles before starting the final nine at left tackle. He was the only player to play every offensive snap of the season.

He's set to become a part of an offensive line that's undergoing significant changes compared to last season. Adams is anticipated to compete for the tackle positions alongside Jaylen Nichols, who transferred from South Carolina, Keydrell Lewis from Louisiana-Monroe, and Jonathan Young from Iowa Central CC. Xavier Hill is expected to transition from tackle to guard, while Jonah Gambill is likely to take on the role of center.

Adams blocked for former Tiger Blake Watson, who recently signed with the Broncos, at ODU
