Grizzlies sign 2 G-League call-ups to 10-day contracts as injuries mount

The Grizzlies listed 10 players on their injury report as "doubtful" or "out" for Monday's game against the Sacramento Kings.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies announced, Tuesday, the team signed forward Tosan Evbuomwan and center Trey Jemison to 10-day contracts. The moves come as injuries continue to swell in a season plagued by them. The NBA granted the Grizzlies three hardship roster exceptions after injuries to stars like Steven Adams, Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart leave them sidelined for extended time, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Evbuomwan joins the Grizzlies from the NBA G-League's Motor City Cruise, an affiliate of the Detroit Pistons. In 29 games, the forward averaged 15.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists, while shooting 57 percent from the field. Ebuomwan went undrafted in the 2023 NBA draft after being the 2021-2022 Ivy League Player of the year at Princeton.

Jemison averaged 10.9 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 blocks for the Birminham Squadron, the G-League affiliate for the New Orleans Pelicans. Jemison is fresh off a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards, where he was on the roster for two games, but only played a minute in each one. Jemison played his final three years of college ball at UAB and was a two-time Conference USA All-Defensive Team selection.

The Grizzlies also signed Matthew Hurt to a 10-day contract from the Memphis Hustle. Hurt played in Monday night's 103-94 loss to the Sacramento Kings. In his NBA debut, Hurt scored 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting including two three-pointers. He also grabbed two rebounds.

Memphis had 11 players out against the Kings, 10 of which they identified as "out" or "doubtful" on the pre-game injury report.

Memphis will play next on Thursday, when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers in FedExForum. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
