Former Tiger Nae'Qwan Tomlin secures G League Elite Camp Invite

Former Memphis forward gets his chance to shine in front of NBA and G League scouts in Chicago.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former Memphis Tiger Nae'Qwan Tomlin picked up an invite to the G League Elite Camp.

The forward was one of 44 players selected to scrimmage for two days in Chicago starting May 11. The hope for every player is to impress enough to secure one of a few spots at the NBA Draft Combine from May 12-19 also in Chicago.

Tomlin follows fellow Tiger David Jones in getting an invitation to NBA events in Chicago after he earned an NBA Draft Combine spot on Friday

The 6-10 forward transferred to Memphis for the 2023-24 season. He played in 21 games with 11 starts, averaging 14 points, 6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 26.9 minutes per game and was second on the team in scoring and rebounding.

Prior to Memphis, Jones spent one year at Kansas State when he was suspended from the program in late October after a bar altercation in Manhattan, Kansas, according to the The Topeka Capital-Journal. Tomlin was arrested for "disorderly conduct; brawling or fighting." He was reportedly granted diversion in the case.

He was dismissed from the Kansas State program on December 6, 2023.

NBA teams vote for 75 players they'd like to see invited to the Draft Combine. The 78 players with the most votes got invited to the combine, the next 44 got invited to the G League Elite Camp.

In the past four years, 13 players who went to the camp were drafted to the NBA.
