Strong storms drop hail, topple trees in the Mid-South

Overnight storms prompted several severe weather warnings.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Strong thunderstorms produced hail and high wind across the Mid-South in the overnight hours of Sunday, May 26.

Wind gusts were as high as 60 or 70 mph in some spots, which knocked down trees and power lines on Poplar Ave. near Goodlett St. in East Memphis.

There were also several reports of penny to quarter size hail, especially in Crittenden and DeSoto Counties.
