TVA reports high October rainfall in Tennessee River Valley, 180% of normal levels

Officials said the valley received 55.34" of rainfalls so far this year, around 13" of surplus rainwater and more than 4" over what they typically see in a year.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. โ€” The Tennessee Valley Authority said the Tennessee River Valley has seen nearly double the amount of rainfall in October than it usually does.

In a post on social media, the TVA said the area usually sees around 2.95 inches of rainfall. In October 2021, they said the area saw around 5.26 inches of rain โ€” around 180% of normal.

Officials also said that so far this year, the valley has seen around 55.34 inches of rain, which is around 4 inches more than they usually see over an entire year. They also said that the area has 13 inches of surplus rain as of early November 2021.

A few showers were in the forecast for the night of Nov. 3, with scattered showers continuing into Nov. 4. There was also a chance of frost Thursday night as temperatures dropped in East Tennessee.
