MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation is hosting the third annual Food Waste Prevention Week from April 1-7, 2024.

The goal is to inform Tennesseans about the importance of reducing food waste, increasing food recovery and other strategies, as well as addressing food insecurity.

The celebration features virtual engagement, educational opportunities, state-wide food drives and regional events featuring food waste awareness activities.

The statewide food drive will be hosted in partnership with the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and extends to April 14. Participants can help feed neighbors by giving non-perishable food items to donation locations or making a monetary donation.

Guests can attend Bread-to-Tap events in Memphis, Chattanooga and Nashville to engage with food waste cooking demos, taste local upcycled bread beer and learn about local resources.

All events are free and open to the public.

Links to the statewide food drive, webinars and other events can be found here.
