A man is dead, and a suspect is on the run after a hit-and-run happened Wednesday night in North Memphis.
The Memphis Police Department responded to the incident April 24, 2024, around 11 p.m. in the area of Jackson Avenue and Orchi Road, where officers found a man seriously injured. First responders rushed the man to Regional One Health, but he died at the hospital.
Investigators said the driver was traveling westbound on Jackson Ave. when the car struck the pedestrian walking across Jackson. They said after hitting the man, the driver kept going westbound on Jackson toward Townes Ave.
Police described the vehicle as a dark-colored pickup which should have heavy front-end damage.
