Memphis police release pictures of suspect vehicle in shooting that injured two people in a Whitehaven parking lot

Memphis Police said the victims had been among other vendors selling items when the shooting happened May 10.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police have released pictures of the suspect vehicle in a shooting that injured two people in a parking lot near the Kroger in Whitehaven.

A Memphis Police Department spokesperson said officers responded to a shooting call about 9:25 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, in the 4600 block of Elvis Presley Blvd, in a parking lot near the Whitehaven Kroger and Liberty Bank.

MPD said they did not find any victims at that time, but two adult victims, a man and woman, showed up at Methodist South in a private vehicle. At that time, MPD said both victims were in critical condition and transferred to Regional One Hospital, where the man remains in critical and the woman is non-critical.

Investigators said the victims were selling items among a group of vendors in the parking lot ahead of the Mother's Day holiday. Police said before the shooting, the victims had been threatened by a woman who said "she would call her boyfriend to deal with them."

Witnesses told ABC24 the shooting happened following an argument over a parking space.

Investigators said the shooter(s) were in a black SUV with silver rims, silver trim, and tinted windows - possibly a Cadillac Escalade.

MPD said the Liberty Bank in that area was also struck by gunfire.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.

Kroger issued the following statement: At Kroger, we prioritize the safety of our associates and customers. We are deeply saddened to hear about the shooting incident that occurred in Whitehaven, TN.
