A power outage in Whitehaven High School impacted their EOC test, according to the Tennessee Department of Education

The department says over a hundred Whitehaven students were not able to finish the test as a result.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A power outage in Whitehaven High School on Thursday resulted in 104 students not completing the End Of Course (EOC) assessment, according to the Tennessee Department of Education.

To ensure that no schools or students are impacted, the department said they confirmed with MSCS Director of Schools Dr. Marie Feagins that none of the incomplete tests will be factored in for the schools, if the district chooses to submit an appeal.

Out of all impacted students, 18 students were allowed to complete the subpart of the test, since they had not seen all the questions and items.

The Tennessee Department of Education says that they have protocols in place for situations like this to "ensure test integrity" and prevent students from being able to start over and take the test again.

This is a developing story, and we're working to learn if more schools have been impacted. ABC24 will update this story when information is available.
