MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is facing a murder charge in the deadly stabbing of a man Tuesday night at a Memphis apartment after an argument over a movie broke out.

Tasha Williams, 49, has been charged with second-degree murder. She is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, Dec. 7.

Around 8:40 p.m., the Memphis Police Department said they were at the scene of a domestic call at Robinhood Park Apartments.

Officers found a man, Michael Williams, suffering from stab wounds, and he was taken to Regional One Health, where he later died, police said.

MPD said he was stabbed by a woman, his partner, and she was taken into custody at the scene.

According to an affidavit, police received the call shortly before 7 p.m. that night. Tasha Williams told officers that she and her ex-husband, Michael Williams, had been drinking and argued over watching a movie.

She told officers her ex-husband asked her to take him to another location, but she refused. He then hit her glasses, creating a cut near her eye, she said.

According to the affidavit, Williams said after she cleaned the area of her eye and her ex-husband tried to help, she became frustrated and grabbed a knife from the kitchen. She then went into the living room and stabbed him in the chest. He later died at the hospital.

Williams also told officers that she had several previous domestic violence cases with her partner, the affidavit said.
