Gov. Bill Lee’s decisions regarding COVID-19 aren’t making much sense

Tennessee’s Republican governor is ignoring advice from President Trump’s own COVID-19 expert, Dr. Deborah Birx

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — In Thursday's Ransom Note: Tennessee Governor Bill Lee's decisions aren't making much sense.

That's why today a congressional committee asked his administration to explain ‘how can you be stopping the spread of COVID-19 when you ignore President Trump's own COVID-19 expert, Dr. Deborah Birx?’ This week in Nashville she urged Lee to close bars statewide and get a mask mandate in every county.

Also today we learned Tennessee has decided not to collect COVID-19 data for schools. We'll just leave it up to each school district to decide if they'll release that information to the public. So, the state will release data on every nursing home with cases but not for schools… interesting.

Then, on the same day, the governor tweeted out that in-school learning is important for "child safety." you have Dr. Birx warning Tennessee we're at risk for becoming the next Florida or Texas, while governors of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Alabama are taking more progressive steps. It seems like Tennessee has a bad case of wanting it both ways.
