Opinion | Something fishy is going on with Subway's tuna sandwich | Richard Ransom

Local 24 News Anchor Richard Ransom discusses in his Ransom Note about the claims of if the tuna in Subway's tuna sandwich is real tuna.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In tonight’s Ransom Note: what’s really in that tuna sandwich from Subway?

The latest viral claim online claims there is no actual tuna.

Reporters for the New York Times bought more than 60 inches worth of Subway tuna sandwiches from around the Los Angeles area and sent them to a specialized fish testing lab.

Researchers didn’t find any tuna or any fish species at all.

The lab said the meat was so heavily processed it either couldn’t be identified as tuna or it simply isn’t tuna.

Back in January, Subway was sued in California for falsely labeling its tune sandwich, but Subway says the accusations are baseless and that it uses 100% real wild caught tuna.

I’m not sure how this fish story ends, but now that you’re caught up, would you still buy that tuna sandwich from Subway?
