5-year-old boy injured in accidental shooting in Frayser after he and his brother found a gun near their home, MPD says

Memphis Police said the child is expected to survive. Two people were seen detained on the scene.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A child was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after being shot accidently at his house, Memphis Police said.

Memphis Police said officers are still investigating the shooting scene in the 3500 block of Hallbrook Street in Frayser.

The five-year-old child was shot accidently after he and his brother found the gun near their home earlier that day. 

The child was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital by private car, suffering non life-threatening injuries.

Memphis Police said no arrests have been made, but two people were seen detained on the scene, an adult and a child.

The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed.
