MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men are facing murder charges, and authorities have issued a warrant for a third suspect after a shooting in North Memphis left a man dead and woman injured early April.

Jarius Hibbler and Tamarius Barron have been charged with first-degree murder. Barron remains in jail without bond.

Hibbler was indicted by a Shelby County Grand Jury on charges of first-degree murder and reckless endangerment on May 9, 2024, according to court records. In a statement released May 8, the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office said Hibbler’s bond was set at $3 million.

Police said officers responded to a fight call in the area of Hollywood and Peres involving two groups around 5:45 p.m. April 2, 2024.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the 1500 block of Merton, according to MPD. There, they found a man with gunshot wounds dead on the scene.

A second victim of the shooting went to the 2600 block of James Rd. and flagged down officers. She was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition, police said.

The shooting stemmed from the previous altercation between the two groups, MPD said.

According to an affidavit, video showed the victim and his family had been confronted by multiple people. A witness told investigators she heard the suspects say they were going to take the victim's Glock handgun. Another video showed one of the suspects, later identified as Hibbler, point a handgun at the victim.

Another suspect, identified as Deario Wilkerson, then lunged at the victim leading to a fight. The victim managed to run away, but video showed Hibbler and Barron start shooting at the victim, who fell to the ground, according to the affidavit. Wilkerson appeared to take something from the ground near the victim before running away. The victim later died.

Two women were driving in the area during the incident, and one was hit by a bullet. The second victim then flagged down police.

Hibbler, Barron and Wilkerson were all positively identified in a lineup.

The D.A. office said a warrant has been issued for Wilkerson.
