MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are investigating after they said a mother reported a man tried to grab her 8-year-old son along the Wolf River Greenway.
MPD officers responded to the possible attempted kidnapping/abduction about 4:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Kirby Rd. and Wolf River Blvd. The boy told investigators he was running on the Wolf River Greenway trail when a man grabbed him. The boy said he broke free and ran back to his mom, who was just out of sight at the time.
The boy told officers the man did not say anything, just grabbed him, but did not pull him in any direction.
MPD said the man was described as a white male with dirty blonde hair, about 6’ tall with a black sweatshirt, black pants, and blue shoes.
Investigators said no one else they spoke with had seen the man.
